How to Make Edible Underwear

If you're looking to sweeten things up in the romance department, you can't get much sweeter than edible underwear. While edible intimate apparel from novelty stores has a reputation for tasting like plastic, this DIY version is actually quite yummy because it's made from fruit roll-ups. It's doubtful wearing these unmentionables would actually get anyone in the mood—but there would certainly be much giggling involved, and laughter may be the best aphrodisiac of all!

  • Parchment paper

Step 1: Make a Pattern

Trace a pair of panties on a piece of paper with a pen. Select underwear that is on the skimpier side (e.g. a thong over granny panties). Not only will it result in a sexier shape, it will take fewer fruit roll-ups. Then cut out the pattern with scissors.

Next, tear off a piece of parchment paper that is larger than the pattern, and place the pattern underneath the parchment paper.

Step 2: Cover Pattern with Fruit Roll-Ups

Unwrap a fruit roll-up. Starting at the top of the pattern, position the fruit roll-up, covering up that portion of the pattern.

Continue placing fruit roll-ups on top of the pattern, overlapping them at the edges so they become one continuous piece. The edges will stick to each other. To save on fruit roll-ups, you can cut pieces to fit around parts where an entire piece isn't necessary.

Step 3: Seal the Edges

With your fingers, rub the edges of the fruit roll-ups that overlap. To further secure them, place another piece of parchment paper on top of the fruit roll-ups, and press down the edges with a rolling pin.

Step 4: Cut Out the Underwear Shape

Remove the pattern from underneath the parchment paper and place it on top of the fruit roll-ups. Then cut along the pattern to create the front of the edible underwear.

Step 5: Coat with Powdered Sugar

To prevent this front piece from sticking to everything, sprinkle some powdered sugar to both sides and smooth it out with your fingers. You can remove excess powdered sugar with a dry paper towel.

Step 6: Make the Second Side

Repeat the process to make the back side of the underwear. Make sure that both pieces are coated with powdered sugar.

Step 7: Connect the Front and Back

Place the two pieces end to end so they meet in the middle. Where they overlap, seal them with a few drops of water, and then remove any moisture with additional powdered sugar. Then fold the front piece onto the back piece.

Step 8: Poke Holes at Waist

Use a wood skewer to poke two holes through the front and back pieces on both the left and right side. These holes will be used for laces to connect the two pieces at the waist.

Step 9: Unroll Twisted Licorice

To make the laces, peel off two thin strips from the twisted licorice. Be sure to look for the licorice candy that is designated for "peel and pull."

Step 10: Tie the Ends Together

Thread the laces through the holes in the front and back, and tie double knots. While functional, the laces add a nice decorative touch to the edible underwear.
